TRIPLEX MODEL SHOE
I was tasked with producing exact replicas of a chosen footwear item, using only white triplex board and maintaining a 1:1 scale.
Activity 1: Full Model Shoe
This model pushed the limits of what I thought was possible from myself. I faced a multitude of challenges throughout the process and combatted them with patience, and the skills I acquired throughout the making of the model. Struggling with time management and the difficulty of the material itself, I used a steaming technique to shape and mould the triplex while using scoring techniques to detail the body, further refining everything with sanding. Overall, I am very proud and happy with this work.
Activity 2: Half Model Shoe
I was incredibly unhappy with how this model turned out. It pushed my limits in terms of time management and I found myself rushing pretty much every aspect of it. I did not get a chance to add detail, and if any, it was poorly done.
Activity 3: Tooling Block Model
The third and final model shoe was a challenge. This model challenged my brain's standard way of thinking and pushed it outside of the box. I struggled once again with time management as well as with how to build the inverse structure of the shoe to create an imprint.
